We constantly aim to provide engaging ways for our students to get the most out of their year. The most unique thing about the Youth Alive Leadership Academy, is the vast range of experiences on offer. From being behind the scenes during Youth Alive events, to a spiritual intensive in the most beautiful location and back to the classroom, our pace offers so much variety.
Even when in the classroom, our various teaching methods keep students engaged. Our guests are experts in their field, whether it be on theology, leadership or learning about current youth issues.
The interning component includes loads of hands-on experience, which are reflected upon your studies, including certain assessment pieces.
INTERN LOCAL CHURCH
Students are required to complete the equivalent of one day a week interning in their local church. This is negotiated with your pastor and the Academy staff.
INTERN YOUTH ALIVE
Students intern with our Youth Alive team around events during the year. Students must therefore be aware of when these events are on and be available accordingly.
Each year, both our first and second year students participate in several 3 day intensives. These are held at the Academy premises.
We also have a mid-year Spiritual Intensive, usually held in some beautiful, relaxing accomodation. This is not part of the Alphacrucis online course but is a key part of our internship program. This has become one of the most memorable and favourite activities of past YA Academy Students.
Youth Alive Events
Youth Alive is the largest youth movement in the country, so it is an incredible experience for students to be involved at grass roots level.
During the year you will be behind the scenes in the Youth Alive Conference, United We Stand and Leadership Events. As much as possible, we allow students to be involved in areas that interest them.
Wherever possible, we also ask our global guests to spend time with the Academy students, which is a huge highlight.
Sri Lanka Missions Trip
Youth Alive’s partnership with Sri Lanka has been an incredible story. Sri Lanka asked us a few years ago, to help them host a conference similar to what we do here in Australia. Expecting around 500 youth, they were bursting at the seams when over 2000 turned up. Now, 3 years later, our Youth Alive Interns are part of hosting a conference of 5000 young Sri Lankans.
Offered to our Second Year Students, and upon application to our First Years, it has fast become a life changing and memorable experience for our students. Literally thrown in the deep end, you could be asked to do anything, from running sound and production; presenting workshops to Sri Lankan leaders; running pre show games or even being part of the Youth Alive band. Sri Lanka Missions Trip runs for 10 days and students contribute a small amount toward it.
